Italian League approves dates for 2013 - 2014 season

The Assembly of the Italian League ( Lega Basket ), convened in Bologna yesterday to approve the list of 16 teams that will play in the Serie A championship next seaason. Teams will be the same as the 12-13 season with Pistoia replacing Biella.
The club season in Italy will start on Tuesday October 8 with the Beko Supercoppa: a single game that will face Montepaschi Siena and Cimberio Varese. The championship will start the following weekend, October 12-13, with the Final 8 of the Beko Coppa Italia scheduled for February 7-9 ans the Beko All Star Game in mid-April ( Sunday 13 ). The play off format will have quarter finals played in a best-of-5 format, with both the semifinals and the Finals in best-of-7. In case that the Finals go to the very last game and an Italian team has played the Final 4 of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague in Milan, game 7 of the Finals will be played on June 29.
The clubs also approved to renew the deal with RCS Sport, the company organizing Lega events, through 2016
