National champs among first ULEB Cup teams
After having finished the initial registration period for the first edition of the ULEB Cup, the Union of European Basketball Leagues announces that 23 clubs have formally signed up for the competition. Together, these clubs form a group of the top-ranked teams in the most important national competitions of Europe, with the exception of those clubs who make up the Euroleague, of course.
A second ULEB Cup registration period will now open, starting Friday and ending next Monday at 12:00 (CET), at which point the ULEB will finalize the competition. In this second period, both the outstanding petitions already received by the ULEB from other European teams and new petitions received before the conclusion of the second registration phase will be analysed, after which the ULEB will decide the definitive format for the competition.
