ACB League



The ACB was founded on March of 1982 and organizes the professsional basketball competitions in Spain, the organization that is going to direct the top category of Spanish basketball as of the season 83-84.The ACB was born as a professional organization, whose sovereign body is the General Assembly, formed by all the clubs present at the competition.

Each season there are three main competitions organized by the ACB:

The League Championship (named as Liga ACB) with a regular sesaon (2 rounds, home and away games) and play-off series (the best 8 teams qualified for the play-offs, all rounds best of 5 games.

The "Copa del Rey" League Cup best 8 teams of the first round of the regular season qualifyed for the Finals, Played durind a 4-day competition.

The ACB All Star Game, two teams (Nationals and Foreigners) with the best spanish and foreign players.

The ACB has an agreement with a main nationwide television broadcaster, Sogecable. Furthermore, a second agreement with FORTA allows regional broadcasters to retransmit ACB League games. The average income for both agreements is higher than €16,8 million.
