The Assembly of the ULEB that took place yesterday in Milan unanimously appointed Mr. Jordi Bertomeu as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Euroleague. Attached you will find Jordi Bertomeu's personal profile.

Jordi Bertomeu Orteu was born in Barcelona (Spain) the 15th of January of 1959, is married and has two children. He is licensed in Law and Information Sciences and speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian.

As a basketball player reached the top category playing with La Salle Barcelona and was a part of the Spanish National Team in minibasket category and of the Pre-selection of the junior category.

However, Jordi Bertomeu gave up the active practice of basketball in order to participate in the ACB's foundation in 1982, as legal adviser. Later he accessed to the charge of Secretary General of the Association, being named Vice President in 1995. He has also taken up high-ranking positions at the Spanish Basketball Federation. Jordi Bertomeu is known, together with Eduardo Portela, as one of the main architects of the Spanish's professional basketball development.

Throughout this years Jordi Bertomeu has specialized in the sports law area, subject with which he takes par in several national organizations and commissions. Thus, he is Adviser of the Spanish Government for the legislative regulation of the Sport, member of the Court of Arbitration of COE (Spanish Olympic Committee) and of the anti-violence Commission of the Ministry of the Interior. He participated in 1991 at the Joint Commission of the Ministry of Education for the conversion of the clubs into sports limited companies.

At present, Jordi Bertomeu is professor at the Master for Sports Management of INEFC at Barcelona's University, and at the Master for Sports' Administration and Management at the Complutense University of Madrid.

After a period of 18 years bound to the ACB, Jordi Bertomeu -with his appointment as C.E.O. of the Euroleague- starts a new international professional challenge at the head of the new ULEB's competition.
